Pinehurst Vow Renewal

Pinehurst Vow Renewal.

Luke and Elaine have been married for 5 years but they were finally able to plan the wedding of their dreams.  And they really cerebrated!

I love December in NC the weather was perfect!  After lots of rain on Friday through Saturday morning, the sun came out for their big day.  The girls relaxed with mimosas as they got ready.  Freya, their daughter, could not wait to put on her princess dress...she loved to twirl and ultimately danced the night away at the reception.

One of the highlights of the day, was when the efficient reminded the group of how Luke and Elaine met.  It was during freshman orientation for college at Lewis University. They were fresh out of high school, right at the beginning of summer 2010.  Elaine's friends were sitting at a table waiting for a presentation to start but had to use the restroom. Of course, being girls, the group just went together. The presentation had already begun by the time we got out of the bathroom so they tried to hurry back to their table, but then they noticed their table was taken...by Luke and two of his friends.  Elaine made a little bit of a deal that they just stole their table so Luke happily scooted down to make room for all of them to sit down together. He ended up sitting across from Elaine.  They talked, played paper football, and then made plans to hang out later.  Luke, being the gentleman he is, made sure he "called dibs".  That was the beginning of something very special.

They were married five years later but were not able to plan the big wedding of their dreams.  So they finally were able to do it!  They included their spunky daughter, Freya, and their closest family and friends.  Their wedding colors paid tribute to their favorite football team, The Chicago Bears!  It was elegant and fun.  Jack Hadden did a wonderful capturing their team colors with splashes of blue and orange.

Q: Tell us about your wedding! What was the inspiration behind your day? Did you have a specific theme, style or color palette? Did you incorporate any cultural or religious traditions in any part of your day?

A: Yes, yes, and yes! Luke and I have been married for 5 years. We got married the same day we both graduated from college, and the same day that he commissioned into the Army. We call it our Gradmissioding day! With the timing of everything, we decided t go with a smaller and more intimate ceremony and to plan a bigger wedding day when we had more time to plan. Life had other plans and it wasn't till 4 years after that small ceremony that we finally began to plan our big one!I am a HUGE Chicago Bears fan (thanks to my dad), so I wanted to have a Bears themed wedding with personalized jerseys and all the fun details. Luke, however, doesn't care much for the sport or team and said no, so we compromised and just used their colors. Our guestbook was also a Chicago Bears helmet for everyone to sign. Everything looked beautiful and we couldn't be happier! As for the traditions; Luke is Polish and I am Filipino, and with that, there were several traditions that we wanted to incorporate into our wedding day! In the Filipino culture, we have a lot of traditions during the ceremony so Luke and I chose to do the veil, cord, and coin/arras ceremony. All three represent the union of our families and the partnership within our marriage. In the Polish culture, they have traditions during the reception. There's a lot of dancing that involves everyone, and there is also the "bread and shots" tradition which concluded with me being given the title of "Head of Household". At the end of the day it was amazing incorporating the traditions, because even though they are a bit dated and we mainly focused on having fun with them, they are still meaningful.
