Rooftop Surprise Proposal in Charlotte

Rooftop Surprise Proposal in Charlotte

Rooftop Surprise Proposal in Charlotte, NC.

Zach was every so careful to plan such a beautiful surprise. He enlisted the help of Perfect Proposals to ensure the day went super smooth. He's been in love with Samantha for years and they have two beautiful little girls. He decided it was time to make her his wife. Zach is active duty military and is heading off for deployment, and he wanted to be sure that Samantha knew his intentions before he left.

He and Samantha arrived at Fahrenheit Charlotte for a cocktail and to spend some time overlooking the city. Little did she know, I was stalking them from a table not too far away. Pretending to take skyline photos, I waited for the precise moment and switched to capturing Zach drop to one knee while he popped the questions. Samantha was floored! We spent a few minutes taking more photos, but it was pretty chilly and I could tell Samantha wanted to relish in just having gotten engaged.

(FROM ZACH) Sam and Zach are both active duty military and met while they were both stationed at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas in 2014. The first time they met was through a mutual friend while at a going away party. As the story goes Sam thought Zach was a handsome hunk and tried to be clever by having the mutual friend persuade Zach to ask her on a date. Zach not knowing Sam wanted him to hit on her was hesitant and thought Sam may be a tad bit out of his league. After all he’s just a small town guy from some farm town in Iowa. However, he eventually built up enough courage and asked her on a date. It wasn’t long at all before the two were spending every spare minute together hiking, watching movies, and spending time with their two dogs. The only wrench in their future was the Big Ten Rivalry they had between them as Zach is an Iowa Hawkeye and Sam an Ohio St Buckeye. However they managed to work that one out.
I’m not the most romantic guy by any means but I knew I wanted to make this a special moment for both of us. I had a pretty short and strict timeline but as I did my research it turns out there are quite a few beautiful places to do an engagement in NC even in January. I wasn’t familiar with Charlotte but the reviews were amazing as were the images I had seen online. Not quite feeling 100% about what I should do I reached out to Perfect Proposals to tell them my ideas and see what they thought. They were a lifesaver and gave me some really good advice in regards to locations, times, photographers, etc. (I highly recommend them for anybody that in the area.) I chose to do it at Fahrenheit, a rooftop restaurant sitting atop Hyatt Place, as it offers incredible views of the Charlotte Skyline. The proposal couldn’t have went any better. My photographer did a wonderful job of hinting exactly where to go in order to get the best photos and did it without Sam suspecting a thing. I was extremely nervous, however, when I got down on one knee and Sam said yes you could hear the crowd clapping and celebrating as they had a first row view of the engagement. (Someone even filmed it on accident as they were taking in the views of the skyline and sent it to us for our special memory box.) It was an incredible feeling for both of us. And because we had the best photographer on this side of the Mississippi (Amanda Moss) we also added some engagement photos to have as a keepsake of the proposal. We capped off that evening by taking a horse drawn carriage through historic uptown Charlotte to admire the views and enjoy each others company.
As far wedding advice we would say to start early and have fun with it. A lot of people tend to get stressed about the details but its your wedding so do what makes you happy. And if stuff does go wrong during the wedding or reception don’t sweat it. Odds are everyone will get a good laugh and it’ll make for a more memorable event for you to reflect on years down the road.
