From the bride: The story starts in Greenville, NC. I was entering my last year of nursing school at ECU and Coaching volleyball at a gym called Next Level. Charlie just finished school at NCSU and was heading back home to work for a medical sales company. Charlie and I first actually met at Next Level gym after hearing about each other nonstop from one of the owners, Mrs. Britt. Charlie grew up living next to the Britt Family, so they know him pretty well. Mrs. Britt constantly would stop me at the gym to tell me about him. A cute, athletic, biology major from state? Interest was definitely peaked. Luckily, Mrs. Britt was telling him about me as well. From the second we met, we knew Mrs. Britt was right; we were meant to be.
Our wedding ceremony was held at Fearrington Village in the Willow Oaks site. We had wonderful family and friends in attendance. Before the ceremony began, I had a first look with three of the most important men in my life: my brother, brother in law and, of course, my dad. Seeing the proud and overjoyed looks on their faces has become one of my favorite memories. Charlie and I wanted our ceremony to be personal, so months before the wedding, we had asked my grandma and his nana to do a special reading for us of their choice. Unfortunately, four days before our wedding, Charlie’s nana lost her battle with cancer. So, on our wedding day, his Papaw stood in her place bravely. He read what she had originally planned and also sang to us the song he sang to his wife more than 60 years ago. It was so meaningful to both of us and not a dry eye was in site.
Our reception was held in the Barn at the Fearrington. The entrance way had cascading flowers hanging from the ceiling; it was a fairytale just walking in! On entering, Charlie and I shared our first dance and I proudly showed off his new bling! Our day was the beyond magical. Oh, and the whole day the weather was calling for an 80% chance of rain, but, we had sweet Nana looking down on us, and had clear skies!
