Modern Raleigh Wedding

Modern Raleigh Wedding

Modern Raleigh Wedding.

Wedding wishes are granted one magic moment at a time. As Brittany drew her bouquet of anemone, peony, and eucalyptus to her chest, she gazed down the aisle of her temporary “Little White Chapel”, and felt the magic of one very big dream coming true.

Brittany and Taylor's love story all started with a one last swipe right. Taylor, In the U.S Military, and Brittany, an NC teacher, almost gave up on the "tinder" dating scene but with one last swipe, it resulted in a match made in heaven!  Their perfect first date was at the Fayetteville Fall Festival that was sealed with a first kiss!  After that night Brittany called her sister sister, Caroline. She was asleep (It was around 2 am) but like any good sister she answered anyway. Brittany said to her sister, "I just wanted to tell you that I just met my future husband. I wanted to call you and tell you so that you can tell everybody at our wedding one day, that I knew after the very first date." Half asleep, she laughed and said, "Well...Praise Jesus, that's great." And just like that the wedding planning began and yes, in Carolines Matron of Honor speech that story was told!

The venue was perfect fit for these two: The Merrimon-Wynne House in Raleigh, North Carolina. Built in 1876, this historic home has been restored with a careful eye toward simplicity and elegance.

For Ceremony, Brittany really wanted to bring the look of a "Little White Chapel" to Merrimon-Wynne House, so an enormous rustic cross anchored one end of the home’s carriage house, and a cathedral-inspired arched gateway at the opposite end. Copper chairs lined the “aisle” and glowed beneath exposed beams and chandeliers, all dripping with seasonal greenery. Cue the bride’s favorite, “Can’t Help Falling In Love With You”, and this soulful winter wedding whispered with all the grace and love Brittany had hoped for.

With the goal of transforming guests to a romantic secret garden, the main house was transformed with garlands of anemone, cedar, eucalyptus and peonies covering mantels, balustrades and tables. It was here that guests were greeted after the ceremony with warm apple cider in copper mugs. Softly lit rooms quickly filled with the cozy scents of winter.

Music began to flow from the former “Chapel” aka Carriage House, urging guests back to a space for the reception that now was filled with rustic farm tables piled high with family-style servings of North Carolina favorites: Short Ribs, Apple Slaw, Honey Brined Chicken and Mac & Cheese. Soft grey velvet draped round tables, all dappled with copper votives. This story of texture and tone led  to the table top to be layered with a stone charger, charcoal linen napkin, copper place-setting and copper menu holder to mark each place setting.

Heavy rope suspended from a trellis held an enormous buffet of the Bride & Groom's favorite; Krispy Kreme Donuts. Wedding cake included layers of Vanilla Cake with Salted Caramel and Brown Sugar Buttercream, and Lemon Cake filled with Raspberry Mousse, Fresh Raspberries and Hibiscus Buttercream. A S’mores Bar treated guests around a fire pit, and an Espresso Bar offered a selection of flavors with monogrammed coffee sleeves. Candlefish, with their amazing travel candle library, offered guests their favorite scent to commemorate the occasion.

As Brittany & Taylor put it best "this was the best night of my life!"
